Basic, But Not So Basic Dress (Part 1: Sketch and Prep)

Sometimes shopping for a basic dress is not easy as one may think. For the longest time, I have been looking for a basic dress with a deep back scoop, and of course a slit on the side, to elongate the legs. Store after store, after not being able to hunt one down, I knew it would be easier to make the dress myself. The sketch shown below is a rough draft. Once it is complete, the dress may look a little different.  I wanted to give you guys an idea of what my next project is. 

I haven't done a quick sketch in over year. My hand felt very stiff. 

Color of dress will not be exact to what is shown in the sketch.

Contemplating if I should attach the gros grain to the dress or make it into a belt.

Make Your Own Yarn (Part 2: Outcome)

As a girl who loves to make non-fitted clothes with bold silhouettes, I'm always trying to learn different ways to make it flattering. This is to make the outfit less intimidating to wear. Baring all (shoulder wise) would be one great way to hit a home run. I have always found open shoulder and shoulder slits to be excitingly appealing and glamourous. It works on every body type, all ages, and everyone looks like they are having a moment. Here is my moment.....

I like styles that are more vague and open for interpretation. You have to give people something to talk about.

In the front, the ombre starts from dark to light, and the back is reversed.

I'm wearing a necklace as a headpiece. Spontaneous idea I thought would be fun with this outfit.

Miu Miu, hands down, is my favorite brand when it comes to accessories. My Miu Miu bag is tooo cute!

Make Your Own Yarn (Part 1: Ripping Organza)

I had a lot of silk organza left from my shredding project (click here to see).  I wanted to make good use of my leftover yardages, so I decide to cut the fabric into strips and knit.
